Written Adeyinka Grandson
In 1951, the English colonial thugs divided Nigeria
into three regions, namely Western, Eastern and
Northern Nigeria.
The Western Region was predominantly Yoruba with
minorities Edo, Urhobo, and Western Ijaw.
The Eastern Region was predominantly Igbo with
minorities Eastern Ijaw/Ogoni (Rivers), Efik (Ogoja),
and Ibibio (Calabar).
The Northern Region was predominantly Hausa/
Fulani with minorities Yoruba, Tiv, Nupe, Kanuri, and
others.
Also in 1951, the Yoruba, Igbo and the Hausa/
Fulani agreed with the English colonial thugs to
allow the minorities within their respective regions
to have their own separate regions after
independence in 1960.
In 1959, the Hausa/Fulani and the Igbo agreed a
coalition government and made the first government
in Nigeria in 1960 after the English colonial thugs
had left.
In 1962, the Yoruba, through Awolowo moved a
motion in the Federal House of Representatives to
allow minorities in the Western, Eastern and
Northern Regions have their own areas. Awolowo
then stated that the Western Region shall allow the
minorities Edo, Urhobo and Western Ijaw to form
Mid-West Region in accordance with the agreement
reached in 1951 with the English colonial thugs.
But alas, the criminally minded Hausa/Fulani and
the Igbo, represented by Tafawa Balewa and
Nnamdi Azikiwe rejected Awolowo's motion.
Whilst Balewa wasn't open to the Nupe, Tiv, Kanuri
and other minorities in the Northern Region having
their own separate region, Zik too wasn't open to
the Ijaw, Ogoni, Efik and Ibibio having a separate
area from the Eastern Region.
In 1963, Balewa and Zik, used the state power as
the Prime Minister and the Governor-General
respectively, and removed from the Western Region
the Edo, Uhrobo, Western Ijaw as well as the
Yoruba's areas of Akoko-Edo and Itsekiri and
proclaimed them the Midwestern Region while they
denied the minorities in the North and Eastern
Regions their own separate areas.
Today, while every Hausa/Fulani politicians still go
about making reference to One North, every Igbo,
whether old or young wants the former Eastern
Region as Biafra without any respect for the feelings
and wishes of the minorities Ijaw, Ogoni, Efik, and
Ibibio.
The Hausa/Fulani and the Igbo are one of the same
coin. They are criminally minded people who lack
shoreline and want other people's land. Young
Yoruba must treat them in similar manner the white
in America have always treated the Africans
Americans. We must be very ruthless and where
possible to obliterate them if they continue to hold
us to ransom.
It's Oduduwa Republic or organized violence.
